Calciano Stops 17 But Loggers Fall At Pacific

Box Score

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Despite 17 saves from Ana Calciano, the University of Puget Sound fell 18-12 at Pacific on Friday. The Boxers (9-4) took a 10-6 lead in the first half and held off the Loggers (5-6) in the second half for the season sweep.

Julia Schulman kicked off the scoring with an unassisted goal 57 seconds into the match to give the Loggers a 1-0 lead. However, that would be the Loggers only lead as Pacific scored the next four goals and never looked back. Schulman finished with four goals.

Kelly Stevens led the Boxers with five goals and Monica Smith added four. Bradia Holmes tallied three for the Loggers while senior Kristine Morris scored two.

Calciano, currently ranked fourth in DIII for saves, made 17 more saves on the day, including 10 in the second half. However, the Boxers took the draw control advantage 20-12 to key the victory.

The Loggers conclude the 2011 season tomorrow at Linfield.
