Box Score 3 PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of Puget Sound softball rolled to two victories over Lewis & Clark on Saturday 9-0 and 11-2. Anthea Aasen tallied seven RBIs in the doubleheader.
Game 1 – W, 9-0
The Loggers hung up all nine of their runs over the final two frames in the six-inning victory. Aasen tallied four RBIs in the game while going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Her three-run homer in the top of the fourth helped the Loggers blow the game open.
Auriel Sperberg was dominant in the circle, tossing five innings. She allowed just one hit while striking out three. Aryn Grause finished up the game with a perfect sixth inning, fanning two.
Natalie Rose matched Sperberg frame-for-frame until the fifth when the Loggers broke through for five runs. The Loggers broke through for four more in the sixth with four singles and a Pioneer error.
Game 2 – W, 11-2
The Logger bats stayed hot into the second game, tallying eight runs in the first three innings. Christina Demuelenaere's RBI-single quickly broke the silence and Aasen drove in another run with a groundout.
In the second, Briana Huber smashed a three-run homer for a5-0 Logger lead. Molly Donahue and Sarah Breninger knocked in back-to-back runs with RBI-hits. However, Grause entered in the circle and shut the door on the rally.
Grause finished out the game and allowed just two hits over four innings.
The Loggers added three more runs in the third and three more in the top of the fifth. Aasen tallied three more RBIs, going 2-for-3 in the game.
Game 3 vs. Willamette – L, 0-1
An unearned run in the bottom of the fifth proved to be enough for Willamette to hold on to the victory and take the season series 3-1 from he Loggers.
Auriel Sperberg was again dominant as she allowed just two hits in six innings pitched. She tallied three Ks and issued just one walk.
Alex Watilo earned the complete game victory with six strikeouts. She allowed just four Logger hits.
In the fifth, Mica Romero knocked in the game's only run when she grounded out to short.
The Loggers will head to George Fox tomorrow for an NWC doubleheader at noon.
