ORANGE, Calf. – The Puget Sound softball team saw it skid extend to eight games as it fell 7-0 and 13-0 to Chapman on Tuesday. The Loggers (2-10) played in the first of three doubleheaders this week in southern California.

Game 1 – L, 0-7

Chapman got out to a quick start, scoring all seven of its runs in the first four frames to quickly take command of the game. Stephanie Engle and Courtney James had back-to-back RBI singles in the first for a 2-0 Panther lead.

The Loggers threatened in the second as Briana Huber reached on an error and Elayna Van Hess singled to start the inning. Both advanced on a passed ball to put runners on second and third with no outs. However, Cassie Oregel settles down in the circle and ended the inning with no Logger runs crossing the plate.

Oregel went on to earn the complete game win.

Chapman added three more in the second, one in the third and one more in the fourth. Michelle Pitts led the charge with two hits and three RBI.

Van Hess kept Chapman off the board through the final three frames and retired six of eight batters through the fourth and fifth innings. She tallied five strikeouts in the game but took the complete game loss in the circle.

Game 2 – L, 0-13

Jenica Holt went 2-for-2 and had two of the Loggers three hits in the game as the Logger bats struggled to produce in the second game.

Chapman took advantage of two Logger errors in the bottom of the first to score four runs in the inning although three were unearned.

The Panthers delivered a big blow in the third as they tallied seven runs in the inning to build up a 12-0 lead. Engle and Kyle Javier led the charge as each went 3-for-3 with three RBI.

The Loggers head to Cal Lutheran tomorrow for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with the Regals.
