Loggers Fall 25-9 To Oxy

Box Score

LOS ANGELES – The Puget Sound women's lacrosse team suffered a 25-9 loss at Occidental on Tuesday. Freshman Caroline Cook tallied another four goals for the Loggers (1-5), but it wasn't enough to overcome a quick start from the Tigers (6-1).

The Tigers jumped out to a 7-1 lead over the first 13 minutes of the match to take control early. Cook's first goal ended a 5-0 run for the Tigers but Occidental continued to control the game as they led 17-4 at halftime.

The Tiger held a 26-10 advantage in draw controls to control the majority of possession in the match. They outshot the Loggers 36-8 in the first half to key the offensive outburst.

Cook and Rachael Silva both scored a pair of goals in the second half but the Loggers couldn't erase the big halftime deficit.

Sarah Kessler scored a game-high eight goals and tallied one assist to lead the Tigers. Tori Larson added four goals while Rebecca Belding contributed a hat trick.

The Loggers finish up their road swing through southern California with a match at Pomona-Pitzer tomorrow.
