Box Score McMINNVILE, Ore. – Six goals from Julia Schulman and another six from Kristine Morris lifted the Puget Sound women's lacrosse team to a 23-9 win over Linfield on Sunday. Linnea Bostrom made 10 saves in the contest and the Logger (1-2) defense limited the Wildcats (0-2) to just two second half goals.
Linfield set out on the right foot as it rattled off three goals in the first six minutes to build a 3-0 lead. Schulman and Morris responded with their first goals of the afternoon less than 20 seconds apart to cut the lead to 3-2.
At the 16:04 mark, the Wildcats built their lead back to 5-2 on a goal from Chas Tittle. Reagan Guariello scored a minute later for the Loggers, followed by two goals from Schulman to tie it up at 5-5. Grace Reid gave the Loggers their first lead at 6-5 before Mariah Jones goal for Linfield drew the game even at 6-6.
Next, it was Morris' turn to strike for back-to-back goals to gain the lead back in the Loggers favor where it would stay for the remainder of the match. By halftime, the Loggers led 11-7.
They continued to pour it on in the second half , limiting the Wildcats to just nine shots and two goals while tallying 12 more goals themselves.
Nine of the Loggers 11 starters in the field got a piece of the scoring action with at least one goal. Katherine Havlik had three goals to add to the 12 that Morris and Schulman equally combined for. Rachael Silva and Caroline Cook each added two goals.
Tittle and Taylor Fisher led the Wildcats with two goals a piece.
The Loggers return home on Friday to face Berry College at 3 p.m. in Baker Stadium.
