Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – An early lead didn't hold up as the Puget Sound women's lacrosse team fell 22-14 to Berry College on Friday. Julia Schulman scored five goals for the Loggers (1-3) but two lengthy scoring runs keyed the comeback win for the Vikings (4-3).
From the 19:48 to the 16:14 mark, the Loggers went on a 3-0 run that gave them an early 6-3 lead. Caroline Cook scored the first of her three goals to spark the run, followed by goals from Rachael Silva and Grace Reid.
The Vikings matched the run over the next five minutes with goals from Elizabeth Flatt, Rachel Aiken and Jenny Miller to tie the match at 6-6. Haley Jackson's free-position shot for the Loggers ended the modest Viking run but merely delayed the comeback.
Kristin Dziurzynski scored five unanswered goals for the Vikings to give them an 11-7 lead. After a goal from Schulman, Dziurzynski tallied another goal to give her seven in the opening half and boost the Vikings to a 12-8 lead.
Dziurzynski ended the match with nine goals and three assists to lead the Viking charge. She combined with Miller to score the first four goals of the second half to boost the Viking lead to a comfortable 16-8.
Schulman tallied four of her five goals in the second half and Cook pitched in two late goals, but it wasn't enough to erase the deficit as the Vikings cruised to a 22-14 win.
The Loggers head down to California for spring break for three matches against southern California opponents.
