Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – All four seniors scored to combine for 12 goals and lead the Loggers to a 21-10 Senior Day win over Linfield on Sunday. Seniors Grace Reid and Kristine Morris each scored five goals while junior Julia Schulman added five more.
The match went back-and-forth over the first 18 minutes as the Wildcats (1-6) and Loggers (3-11) were tied at 4-4 with just over 13 minutes remaining. However, the Loggers went on a 7-0 run over the next seven minutes to blow the game open.
Schulman sparked the run with a goal at the 8:15 mark and then Reid and Morris struck on back-to-back free position goals to take a 7-4 Logger lead. Senior Katherine Havlik tallied her only goal of the match with 3:38 to play in the first half with Reid earning an assist.
Caroline Cook scored one of her four goals in the match with just under two minutes left and Reid and Morris each drove in a goal in the last minute to push the lead to 11-4. Erika Helm-Buckman was able to put an end to the Logger run as her last second shot found the back of the net just before time expired in the half.
Linfield came out in the second half and looked to mount a comeback with three early goals. Brittani Drost scored to open the half while Mariah Jones and Halee Helgerson each scored in the first six minutes of the half (with a Logger goal from Cook mixed in) to make the score 12-8.
Schulman, Reid and Morris scored consecutive goals before the 17:00 minute mark to pad the lead back to a comfortable 15-8 margin. The Loggers went on to score six of the last eight goals of the match, including a free position goal from senior defender Rachel Ivancie, to lock up the win in their season finale.
The Loggers season came to a close with a 3-11 record on Sunday but ended on a high note as they beat Northwest rivals Pacific and Linfield in consecutive matches to end the year.
