Logger Rally Loses Steam Late In Loss To Augustana

Box Score

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Puget Sound women's lacrosse team again narrowed an early deficit to one goal only to see the deficit grow again late in a 22-11 loss to Augustana on Monday. Caroline Cook scored three goals to lead the Loggers (1-11).

Hilary Kargl scored the first of her match-high 10 goals at the 26:02 mark of the first half to put Augustana up 2-0. Caroline Cook answered back for the Loggers 30 second later with her first goal of the day.

However, a 4-0 run from Augustana saw the lead quickly grow to 6-1. The Loggers refused to go quietly as they clawed their way back into to the match and cut the lead down to 8-7 on a Kristina Morris goal with just under four minutes left in the first half. At the half, the Logger trailed 9-8.

Kelly Stelzer scored the first goal of the second half for Augustana but Cook again answered back to keep the Loggers within one. However, Augustana bucked the Logger rally with a 12-1 run over much of the second half to come away with the big win.

The Loggers return home for their final two matches of the season. First up, they face Pacific on April 10 at 3 p.m.
