Loggers Fall Twice On Season-Opening Day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLACKAMAS, Ore. – The Puget Sound softball team opened its season on Saturday, falling 6-1 to the College of Idaho and 7-1 to Concordia.

Game 1 vs. College of Idaho – L, 1-6

The Loggers (0-2) fell behind early as the Yotes put up a run in the second and another in the third. The lead was cut in half in the third when Tahni Andt drew a bases loaded walk to force in Amy Schmeckpeper from third.

However, that would be all the Loggers would get on the offensive end. The Yotes used a four-run sixth to put the game away.

Shannon Reed went the distance for the Loggers allowing six runs although only one was earned. She also struck out four. Brianna Huber had two hits in the contest and drew one walk.

Game 2 vs. Concordia – L, 1-7

The Loggers were on the board first against the Cavaliers. Lisa Columbo led the inning off with a walk and later came around to score on a Schmeckpeper double.

The double was one of three hits that the Loggers had in the game. Chelsea Lindroth had a single as did Reed.

The undefeated Cavaliers (10-0) went on to score seven unanswered runs and quickly took the lead with the first pair coming in the bottom of the first.

Megan Campbell made her Logger debut in the circle with four innings pitched and allowed four earned runs while striking out two.

Tomorrow, the Loggers take on Corban and British Columbia to finish up their season-opening weekend.
