Box Score 2 CLACKAMAS, Ore. – The Puget Sound softball team suffered a pair of losses on Sunday at the Northwest Cup, falling 11-3 to Corban and 11-0 to Oregon Tech. Marissa Jeffers went deep for the Loggers first homer of the 2013 season.
Game 1 vs. Corban – L, 11-3 (5 inns.)
Corban jumped on top early with four runs in the top of the first and went on to score in every inning in an 11-3 run-rule win. Stephanie Nippert and Rachel Conrad highlighted the inning with a pair of homers in the first.
Lisa Columbo scored on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning to get the scoring started for the Loggers. However, Nippert went deep again in the second for another two-run homer and knocked in another run with a double in the fifth.
Jeffers went deep for the Loggers in the bottom of the fourth to score the final two runs of the day for the Loggers. Chelsea Lindroth had a 2-for-2 effort at the plate while also drawing a walk.
Game 2 vs. Oregon Tech – L, 11-0
The Loggers had three hits in the game but couldn't scratch across a run in an 11-0 loss to Oregon Tech in their final game of the weekend. As the home team, Oregon Tech scored two in the first and three runs in each of their three innings at the plate to come away with the win.
After falling behind 2-0, Amy Schmeckpeper led off the second and reached third on a Shannon Reed double with one out. However, she was stranded there and the Loggers did not get another hit until the top of the fifth.
Jess Plummer led Oregon Tech at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance, including one of OIT's three homers.
The Loggers enter into Northwest Conference action next weekend when they head down to Lewis & Clark and Pacific.
