Loggers Trail But Home-Opener Halted Due To Rain

TACOMA, Wash. – Saturday's home-opener for the Puget Sound softball team was washed away in the top of the fourth inning with Whitworth leading 6-2. The Loggers and Pirates will pick the game up tomorrow at 11 a.m. and play two more game after that tomorrow. The series finale is planned for Monday at 10 a.m.

Whitworth scored first when Mackenzie Hope reached on an error to open the game and later came around to score on a groundout.

Lisa Colombo answered for the Loggers in the bottom of the third. She smacked a double into right field to bring Olivia Turner and Taylor Jones, who were standing on third and second.

Jamie Brunner led off the fourth with a solo homer for Whitworth and they went one to score five runs before the rain cut off the inning with two outs and runners on second and third.
