Whitworth Takes Monday Finale

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound softball team fell 13-0 in the finale of its four-game series with Whitworth on Monday. The Pirates (12-10, 9-7 NWC) used a six-run third inning to build an early lead and complete the series sweep.

Taylor Gilbert was again solid in the circle for the Pirates, allowing just one Logger hit. Lisa Colombo hit a single up the middle in the first inning but the Loggers were unable to get anything going offensively the rest of the way.

Five Logger errors contributed to the five-inning loss as Whitworth plated seven unearned runs. Julia Johnson hit a solo homer and Peyton McMahon knocked out a two-run homer to led Whitworth at the plate.

The Loggers will head down to southern California this week for five games over spring break. First up, the Loggers meet Pomona-Pitzer for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday.
