Box Score 2 FOREST GROVE, Oregon – Puget Sound sophomore Paige Schaffer belted her first home run of the season and the second of her career, but the Logger softball team lost late at Pacific, 7-5.
Kristi Nagamine (2-for-4, 2 R) reached based in the first inning with a one-out single, and Erica Gott (1-for-2, 2 R, RBI, 3B) followed by drawing a walk. Schaffer (1-for-3, R, 3 RBI, HR) stepped into the box and delivered a three-run shot to center field.
The Boxers (9-3, 2-0 NWC) answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first, but Puget Sound (0-8, 0-2 NWC) reclaimed the lead with two runs in the fifth. Gott ripped an RBI triple to right-center field to score Nagamine, and Jessica Shaw's (1-for-4, RBI) RBI single plated Gott to give the Loggers a 5-3 edge.
However, Pacific scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to earn the win. Pacific won the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, 19-0 (5 inn.).
The Loggers play a doubleheader at George Fox on Sunday, March 1, beginning at 12 p.m.
