Loggers earn 1-0 victory on back of Acorda-Fey's goal

Box Score

TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound women's soccer team defeated Hamline University 1-0 Saturday afternoon. Amalia Acorda-Fey recorded her second game-winning goal in two days and third for the season.

The Loggers (4-0) dominated the game, outshooting Hamline (1-3) 8-3 in the first half, and 7-3 in the second half. Puget Sound had the better of the chances in the first period, but the two teams entered halftime tied 0-0.

The score would remain level until the 71st minute. A ball was crossed from the right flank and the Pipers goalkeeper, Amy Ramras, was able to get a body on it, but Acorda-Fey was poked the ball into the net for her second goal on the weekend, and third of the year.

Grayson Williams-Krebs led the team with four shots, while goalkeeper Lauren Thomas (4-0) made one save. Thomas now has three shutouts in 2015.

Puget Sound's next match will be Wednesday, September 16, when they travel to cross-town rival Pacific Lutheran. The conference opener is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
