Holgate nets three, Loggers fall to Boxers

TACOMA, Washington – Callie Holgate scored three goals, but the University of Puget Sound lacrosse team lost, 14-4, to Pacific on a windy Sunday afternoon.

Holgate's three goals led the Loggers, while Ali Walker also put one in the net for Puget Sound.

Pacific (5-1, 2-1 NWC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and lead 10-2 at halftime. After the Boxers scored the first three goals of the second period, Puget Sound (1-5, 1-2 NWC) scored two of the next three goals to finish the game.

Goalkeeper Leah Stromberg (1-5) made seven saves. Elena Becker picked up five ground balls, while Ali Walker recorded four. Hailey Shoemaker and Walker each caused two turnovers. For the second game in a row, the Loggers recorded more draw controls than their opponent (10-8).  

Puget Sound will next travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday, March 17. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
