Box Score 2 TACOMA, Washington – Erica Gott clubbed her first home run of the season, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of a Northwest Conference doubleheader at home against Whitworth Sunday afternoon.
Puget Sound 3, Whitworth 9
Although the Loggers struck first, Whitworth rallied for 4 four runs in the third inning on its way to beating the Loggers, 9-3, in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Puget Sound (3-14-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Mackensie Pearlstein led off with a walk, and Jessica Gott also drew a walk. Erica Gott's single loaded the bases, and Camille Good smacked a two-run single back up the middle.
Erica Gott launched a solo home run to left field, cutting Puget Sound's deficit to 4-3. However, the Pirates (10-8, 3-3 NWC) put three runs on the board in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh.
Four Loggers finished with two hits in the game: Kaitlyn Webster, Erica Gott, Lia Nakamoto, and Amber Popovich.
Puget Sound 0, Whitworth 3
Erica Gott tossed a complete game and allowed just three earned runs, but Puget Sound could not muster enough offense in a 3-0 loss to Whitworth.
Erica Gott allowed just three earned runs in 14 innings (1.50 ERA) against the Pirates this weekend.
