Box Score REDLANDS, California – Cal Hansen was clutch on both ends of the floor in the game's final seconds as the Puget Sound men's basketball team earned a 74-72 win at Redlands Saturday afternoon.
The Loggers (4-3) trailed by five points, 72-67, with just over one minute remaining in regulation. That's when Stellan Roberts earned a trip to the free-throw line, where he connected on both attempts to make it a one-possession game.
The Redlands' (5-2) ensuing possession resulted in a turnover, and Roberts tied the game, 72-72, by drilling a 3-pointer with 39 seconds on the clock. The Puget Sound defense fought for another big stop, as John Misel came down with a defensive board.
The Loggers quickly moved the ball up the floor and Roberts found an open Hansen for a layup that gave Puget Sound a two-point lead. The Bulldogs promptly called a timeout to draw up an answer, but their plans were thwarted by a steal from Hansen.
The Loggers got off to a sluggish start, shooting just 38.7 percent from the floor in the first half as Redlands held a 37-32 lead at the break. Puget Sound picked up in the pace in the second half, when it shot 47.8-percent in the final 20 minutes.
