Box Score

SALEM, OregonHannah Nichols, Jenna Kisner, and Ali Walker netted two goals each as the Puget Sound lacrosse team won its first game of the season, 8-5, at Willamette Sunday afternoon.

Just 2:30 in the game, Kisner gave the Loggers (1-3, 1-2 NWC) a 1-0 lead off a goal on a free-position attempt. Willamette (1-3, 0-2 NWC) quickly answered to take a 2-1 lead, but Kisner's second goal evened the score.

An Ali Walker goal gave the Loggers a 3-2 lead midway through the first half, but the teams entered halftime in a 3-3 tie.

The second half opened with Lauren Mastin's first goal of the season, but once against the Bearcats came up with an answer.

Nichols and Walker scored back-to-back goals to give Puget Sound a cushion. Following one last Willamette goal, Rebecca Simon and Nichols found the back of the cage late in the game.

Puget Sound forced Willamette into 34 turnovers, and the Loggers amassed 27 shots to Willamette's 14.

Puget Sound travels to Denver, Colorado where it will play against Johnson & Wales Tuesday, March 19.
