DeGuzman, Shimoda total three hits in two games against Pioneers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TACOMA, Washington – One day after winning both ends of a doubleheader against Lewis & Clark, the Puget Sound softball team dropped two conference games to the Pioneers at Logger Field Sunday afternoon.

Lewis & Clark won the first game in five innings, 9-0, and narrowly edged out the Loggers in the second game, 4-1.

The Loggers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the second game after Hana DeGuzman hit a triple down the left-field line, and she soon scored on Kelsie Sullivan's RBI double.

Down by three runs in the last inning, the Loggers had a chance to at least tie the game. Kaitlyn Webster hit one-out double to left-center field, and Puget Sound put runners on the corners when DeGuzman reached on a fielding error. However, the Pioneers got the next batters out to seal the win.

Between the two games, DeGuzman was 3-for-7 at the plate, and Jessica Shimoda went 3-for-5.

Puget Sound is back at home next week, April 6-7, to host George Fox for a four-game Northwest Conference series.
