Box Score 2 AUBURN, Washington – The Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of its first home doubleheader of the season against Central Washington on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats won the first game 8-0, and took the second game, 13-5. The games were played at Auburn Mountainview High School.
Central Washington (6-7) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second during the second game. The Loggers (0-5) evened the score in the bottom of the second as Maddie Colombo, Savannah Smith, and Kelsie Sullivan each earned walks to load the bases. Hana DeGuzman then tallied an RBI with a bases-loaded walk.
Cameron Zell, who pinch ran for Smith, scored on a wild pitch to make it a 3-2 deficit for the Loggers. Puget Sound notched one more run when Kaitlyn Webster smacked an RBI single through the left side to bring in Sullivan.
In the bottom of the third, Marissa Oda reached base by drawing a walk, and she moved into scoring position on a sac bunt by Maddie Colombo. Smith then reached base on an error and Oda sprinted home to take the lead, 4-3.
The Wildcats' offense erupted in the fourth inning when it scored seven runs in the frame. The Loggers earned their final run in the bottom of the fifth when Webster doubled to right field, bringing in Sullivan.
Webster went 3-for-4 at the plate, and Sullivan went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
The Loggers head to California to take on Redlands Saturday Feb. 22, at 12 p.m.
