Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, California – Kelsie Sullivan tossed a complete-game shutout to lead the Puget Sound softball team to its first win of 2020 at La Sierra, 8-0, Sunday afternoon. The Loggers lost the first game of the doubleheader, 9-5.
Puget Sound 8, La Sierra 0 (5 inn.)
Kelsie Sullivan allowed just two hits through five dominant innings against the Golden Eagles.
The Loggers (1-6) raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Hailee Ueyama and Kelsie Sullivan both reached base on errors, and Ueyama scored on a third error in the stanza.
Later in the inning, Marissa Oda drew a bases-loaded walk and Noell Kerr smacked an RBI single. The Loggers pushed their lead to 5-0 in the third inning when Oda hit an RBI single and Kerr put a ball in play to allow Abbi Wong to score from third.
In the fourth inning, Wong belted a two-run double, and Oda also came through with an RBI double.
Both Wong and Kaitlyn Webster scored three times in the game. Wong and Oda each collected two hits and two RBI.
Puget Sound 5, La Sierra 9
Hailee Ueyama went 2-for-4 with three RBI, but the Loggers lost the first game of Sunday's doubleheader at La Sierra.
The Golden Ueyama hit an RBI double in the first inning, and she later came around to score on a single by Kaitlyn Webster. However the Golden Eagles plated eight runs in the bottom of the first.
The Loggers rallied for three runs in the fourth inning, which was highlighted by a two-run single from Ueyama.
The Loggers begin Northwest Conference action at home against Willamette, March 7.
