Box Score 2 ELLENSBURG, Washington – The Puget Sound softball team concluded its season-opening weekend against NCAA D-II opponents Saturday, and the Loggers lost both ends of a doubleheader at Central Washington.
Puget Sound 5, Central Washington 13 (6 inn.)
The Loggers held a 5-2 lead after two innings, but the Wildcats plated two or more runs in each of the next four innings.
The Loggers' scoring in the second started with an RBI double by Kelsie Sullivan, driving in Kaitlyn Webster.
After Savanna Smith and Kendall Gantz drew consecutive walks, Maria Ortiz plated Smith with a groundout. Later in the inning, Hana DeGuzman smacked an RBI single, and Hailee Ueyama drew a bases-loaded walk.
Ueyama also finished the game with a stolen base.
Puget Sound 6, Central Washington 18 (5 inn.)
The Wildcats did most of their damage with a 13-run second innings.
The Loggers scored their first run when Ema Kessler scored on a groundout by Hana DeGuzman.
Kendall Gantz hit an RBI double in the fourth innings, and in the following stanza Kaitlyn Webster hit a two-run double.
