Box Score 2 TACOMA, Washington – Savanna Smith homered twice to lead the Puget Sound softball team to a weekend-opening 8-7 win at Lewis & Clark Friday afternoon. The Pioneers won the second game of the doubleheader, 9-3.

In the top of the first inning Smith hit her fifth home run of the season – a two-run shot. Hailee Ueyama was on base after hitting a leadoff double.
Smith led off the top of the third inning with a solo home run to give the Loggers a 4-1 lead. Lewis & Clark pulled to within a run in the bottom of the third, but the Loggers rallied for four runs in the fourth.
Noelle Kerr led off with a single, and Mikayla Newman singled to the right side, and an error in the outfield put runners on second and third. Hana DeGuzman followed with an RBI hit. DeGuzman later scored on an error, and the rally was capped off with an RBI single up the middle by Kaitlyn Webster.
The Pioneers matched the Loggers' four-run fourth inning, but Kendall Gantz and Maddy Garcia combined to keep the Pioneers off the board in the final three innings.
Ueyama, Smith, and Kerr each collected two hits in the win.
Puget Sound 3, Lewis & Clark 9
Kelsie Sullivan hit her second home run the season, but a five-run fourth inning for the Pioneers propelled Lewis & Clark to a win.
Sullivan came in to pinch hit in the top of the fourth inning, and she launched a solo homer to centerfield.
Sullivan tried to start a big a sixth-inning rally when she hit a one-out double. Sullivan came in to score on a single by Hope Fleischman, but that was Puget Sound's last run of the game.
The Loggers and Pioneers have another doubleheader Saturday, April 24, starting at 12 p.m.
