Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Oregon – Abbi Wong hit her fourth home run of the season, but the Puget Sound softball team lost twice at Lewis & Clark Saturday afternoon. Both games were decided by a 6-5 final score.
Game 1
Puget Sound's seventh-inning rally came up just short and the Loggers lost the first game Saturday, 6-5.
The Loggers entered the final stanza in a 6-2 hole, bot Lauren Rice got the rally started with a one-out single. Hailee Ueyama followed with a single of her own, and Hana DeGuzman drew a walk to load the bases.
Savanna Smith stepped to the plate and delivered a two-run double to centerfield. Two batters later, Abbi Wong hit an RBI single to make it a one-run game. However, the Pioneers sealed the win with a game-ending double play off a hard-hit line drive.
DeGuman collected three hits in the game, including two doubles, while Ueyama, Wong, and Kaitlyn Webster each finished with a pair of hits.
Game 2
Wong hit a two-run home run to give the Loggers a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning, but the Pioneers scored six unanswered runs to walk off with a win.
The Loggers got the scoring started in the third inning, when Webster hit a sac fly to score Ueyama, and Kelsie Sullivan and Noelle Kerr both hit RBI singles.
In the next inning, DeGuzman hit a leadoff single and came in to score on Wong's homer.
Lewis & Clark won it with a walk-off home run in the seventh.
Puget Sound returns to Tacoma next week. The Loggers play at Pacific Lutheran, May 1, and then they host the Lutes the following day.
