Box Score TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound lacrosse team dominated the second half to edge past Whitworth, 11-9, Sunday afternoon. It was the Loggers' final home game of the season.
Whitworth opened the game by taking a 4-1 lead through the first 17 minutes, and the Pirates held a 7-4 advantage in the second half. But Hayden Hotchkiss, Emily LaRiviere, and Abby Stranahan carried the Loggers' offense in the second half.
Stranahan scored the first goal of the second half just two minutes in, and Hotchkiss followed with a goal to bring the Loggers within one.
Two minutes later, LaRiviere tied it up, 7-7, by scoring on a free-position attempt.
The Pirates briefly reclaimed a one-goal lead, but Stranahan's second goal of the half evened the score. Less than one minute later, LaRiviere scored again on a free-position attempt.
The Logger defense continued to frustrate the Pirates' offense, and Hotchkiss scored consecutive goals to put the Loggers ahead, 11-8.
Olivia Almy made 11 saves in the winning effort, marking her sixth consecutive games with 10+ saves.
The Loggers finish the season with two games at Willamette, May 1-2.
